Scoring the questionnaire

Upon receiving the questionnaire, our purchasers rate the supplier’s performance as either satisfactory or unsatisfactory.

Each section of the questionnaire is to be rated either 'satisfactory' or 'unsatisfactory'. The environmental and social sections are scored separately. The overall rating is regarded as either satisfactory or unsatisfactory based on whether the supplier meets the minimum standards.

If the score on either one environmental or one social question is regarded as unsatisfactory, then the score for the entire section is considered unsatisfactory. For example, if a supplier scores unsatisfactory on ‘environmental impact’, then the score for the overall environmental section is rated unsatisfactory.

This is to ensure that our suppliers systematically measure and manage their environmental impacts. When our purchasers are in doubt about the rating, our experts within the company on environmental and social issues provide assistance.

In cases where a supplier has not completed the questionnaire, our purchasers contact the supplier for further information.

All unsatisfactory performances are reported to the project manager of the Sustainable Supply Chain Management, who indicates the further course of action. This step is necessary to maintain consistent feedback and actions on unsatisfactory performances across the company.

In the case of a supplier continuously declining to answer the questionnaire or being unwilling to improve the minimum standards, the purchaser will eventually close the contract on this basis. Where suppliers are of strategic importance the case will be brought to the Supplier Evaluation Committee manned by senior managers and specialist. The Committee will then decide how to proceed.
