To ensure a consistent, well prepared audit programme in line with our values and commitments, we have developed a set of tools for auditing our suppliers. The tools are classified in three sections: pre-audit, on-site audit and post-audit.
Only the pre-audit tool is currently available as we are still refining the rest of the tools. However, we provide an overview of the audit tool box as well as descriptions of the tools, which we hope can be of inspiration.
1. Pre-audit
Contact person checklist Intended for the purchaser. It ensures that the auditee has a good understanding of the audit and that all necessary agreements are in place.
Pre-audit information to auditee Provides answers to the 'Why, What and How' regarding the audit and is essential for auditees with no prior knowledge of social and environmental audits.
Factory profile form Gives the auditor an overview of the size and structure of the organisation to be audited.
Interview guide* Helps the auditors to brief local interviewers** on their tasks. It also serves as an interview guide for interviewers during interviews.
2. On-site audit
Introductory presentation A presentation for the opening meeting introducing the Triple Bottom Line thinking at Novo Nordisk and what it means in practice for suppliers.
Audit questionnaire An extensive questionnaire guide covering similar issues to those in the preliminary evaluation questionnaire, but with more in-depth questions, document reviews, cross-interview checks, etc.
Factory walk-around checklist Provides information to the auditors on the issues to look out for during the factory walk-around.
3. Post-audit
Audit report template A template has been provided to our auditors to compile the results of the audit. This is to ensure consistent reporting on these issues across the organisation.
* National Law summaries: The supplier is audited against both international and national or local regulations on social and environmental issues. To prepare our auditors, a summary of national/local environmental and labour laws is provided. Additionally, notes on issues of concern in the country of audit are also included.
** Local interviewers: We use local interviewers during our interviews with factory workers and other personnel. They provide assistance in translating documents and help our auditors to understand the local context better.
